About
Norbert Woo
Founder, Adaptivity Collective
Executive Leader · Advisor · Coach · Facilitator · Guide

My experience has been shaped by more than 25 years of leading, advising and developing people across Asia Pacific and North America.
I have held senior executive and regional leadership roles in complex multinational organizations spanning technology, services, logistics, retail and consumer sectors, alongside experience with leading global advisory firms in finance and professional services.
My work has crossed strategy, finance, operations, commercial leadership, organizational and digital transformation, and people leadership.
I know what it feels like to carry responsibility for results while navigating people, competing priorities, organizational politics, difficult decisions and uncertainty. I have experienced leadership not only from the outside looking in, but from inside the room — accountable for what happens next.
Today I bring that experience into my work as an advisor, coach, facilitator and guide. I see the role of guide less as having the map or all the answers, and more as walking alongside — helping people notice, discern, learn and navigate their own way forward.
The wider work
I am the founder of the Adaptivity Collective — an evolving ecosystem exploring how people, leaders and organizations transform for the journey ahead while staying anchored in what matters.
The Collective brings together several connected expressions of that work:
- The Institute for Adaptivity — ideas, frameworks, research and learning around adaptivity in people, leaders, teams and organizations.
- Adaptive Soul — a quiet place for spiritual reflection, formation and discernment.
- The Adaptivity Monk — my personal work across coaching, advisory, facilitation, speaking and reflection.
But beneath them is a shared curiosity about what helps people and organizations grow, adapt and become capable of what the next season requires.
Increasingly, one question connects the different parts of my journey:
What genuinely transforms a person, a leader or an organization?
I believe strategy, capability, relationships, character and inner life shape one another. Adaptivity Monk is where those different paths come together — and where I continue learning too.
Multinational corporations and entrepreneurial environments.
Finance and strategy.
Operations and transformation.
Leadership and organizational change.
Coaching and facilitation.
Marketplace and ministry.
Asia and North America.
Different Paths. A Deeper Centre.
The phrase captures both the breadth of my journey and the way I increasingly see the work.
People may arrive through very different questions.
- A leader trying to navigate change.
- A team struggling to align.
- An organization rethinking its strategy.
- Someone moving between chapters.
- A Christian wrestling with calling or work.
- A person needing space to attend to the soul.
Those are different paths. But underneath them are often connected questions:
- Who are we becoming?
- What really matters?
- What needs to change?
- What must remain?
- What have we been entrusted with?
- How do we move forward faithfully and wisely?
That is the deeper centre.
It is not one answer or one methodology. It is the deeper work beneath the immediate challenge.
My own different paths
My career has not followed a single straight line, and what once looked like separate experiences increasingly feels connected. Each path has deepened my interest in:
How we change.
How we become.
How we lead.
How we steward what has been entrusted to us.
How we respond when an old way is no longer enough.
How we remain rooted when the environment around us keeps shifting.
And how we discern what the next season requires.
Am I a monk?
No. At least, not in the traditional sense.
Most of my life has unfolded not in a monastery, but in businesses, leadership teams, communities, family — and the messiness of everyday life.
The word monk reminds me of a posture I want to keep learning:
Pay attention.
Ask a deeper question.
Listen before acting.
Create space for discernment.
Cultivate an inner life deep enough for the outer one.
So Adaptivity Monk is less a title I have earned than a reminder of the person I am still becoming — and an invitation to stay curious about what transformation might yet be possible.
My posture
I do not assume that I know the answer to someone else's life or leadership challenge.
I bring curiosity.
Questions.
Experience.
Perspective.
Frameworks where they are useful.
Challenge when it is needed.
And space to listen and discern.
At times the work is deeply practical. At times strategic. At times personal. At times spiritual. Often it is several of those at once.
The aim is not simply to arrive at a better answer. It is to see more clearly, become more capable and move forward with greater intention.
What grounds me
I love seeing people come alive — discovering more of who they are and who they are called to be, and how they might lead and serve others with greater purpose, freedom and impact. At the heart of my work is a genuine compassion and care for people.
I too am learning and being more deeply anchored and transformed. And for me, the deeper centre is not self-mastery. It is Jesus Christ.
My faith shapes my mission, vision and values, and how I seek to appreciate people, exercise influence, steward responsibility and approach my work. It is also a source of hope, curiosity, courage and joy — sometimes quite literally the extra spring in my step.
I have also spent years exploring the intersection of faith, leadership, work, formation, stewardship and the inner life. What once looked like separate experiences increasingly feels connected.
Where a shared faith is part of a client's own life, our work can intentionally include prayer, spiritual discernment and formation, and faith-integrated reflection. Where it is not, we work with the questions that are meaningful to them.
Either way, I approach any coaching and advisory relationship with curiosity, care, dignity, autonomy and respect.
My hope is that my work together with others eventually creates room for something deeper than simply achieving another goal: greater clarity, deeper purpose, stronger relationships, meaningful contribution and impact — perhaps even a different way of being.
Writing & Reflection
I also write and speak about adaptivity, leadership, transformation, faith, work and the inner life — exploring questions that have emerged through years of leading, coaching, advising and my own journey.
Some pieces are practical. Some are reflective. Some sit at the intersection of strategy, leadership and formation.
I do not write because I believe I have all the answers. I write because good questions help us notice, learn and see differently.
